Consultation Family Fiance visa
A Family Fiance visa is a document that allows you to get married to a citizen or an official resident of the UK.
Further, an applicant has a right to apply for a Spouse visa to stay in the UK without leaving the country.
A Fiance visa is issued for a period of 6 months, during which an applicant must enter into a legal marriage in the UK.
Who can apply for a Fiance visa?
– Applicants over 18 years of age
– Applicants who are planning to marry a citizen / official resident of the UK within 6 months from the visa start date, and then stay in the UK on a Spouse visa
Processing time
The processing time for a Fiance visa is at least 24 weeks (6 months).
Priority Visa Service is temporarily not available for applicants applying from the Russian Federation.
General requirements
Before applying for a Fiance visa, an applicant must check that he and his sponsor meet the basic Home Office requirements listed below.
To apply for a Fiance visa, you need:
– Have and be able to provide all general documents (please refer to the Documents section below on this page)
– Prove that the relationship between an applicant and his sponsor is genuine (the Genuine Relationship Test)
– Prove a minimum income level (£18,600 per year), in accordance with the Home Office financial requirements
– Prove that an applicant meets the English language requirements (see below)
– Prove that a sponsor and an applicant meet the Home Office accommodation requirement
– Submit biometrics at the Visa Application Center
– Submit a negative TB test certificate (see below)
– Prove that an applicant and his sponsor are planning to get married in the UK within 6 months from the visa start date
What is the Genuine Relationship Test?
An applicant for a Spouse visa must prove the relationship between him and his sponsor (an applicant’s official spouse – a citizen or a legal resident of the UK) is genuine.
An applicant and his sponsor must prove that they have met in person at least once prior to applying for a Fiance visa.
The following documents may help to prove the relationship is genuine:
– Emails from a restaurant or another location confirming the intention of the applicant and his sponsor to celebrate their wedding there
– Photos of the couple, ishowing an applicant and his sponsor spend time together, as well as with their relatives, friends
– Cover letters from parents/friends confirming the relationship between an applicant and his sponsor is genuine
– Screenshots of any personal correspondence between an applicant and a sponsor in social networks, confirming the nature of the relationship
– Scans of visas, confirmation bookings of accommodation and air tickets to prove an applicant and a sponsor travelled together
– Evidence of gifts or other goods bought for one another or for joint use (receipts)
– Any other documents confirming the intention of an applicant and a sponsor to live together in the UK
Financial Requirements
An applicant’s sponsor must prove his annual income is at least £18,600 before tax (gross annual income).
For each dependent child applying with an applicant, this increases to £2,400.
This income can come from:
– official employment in the UK
– employment
– self-employment (including directors of limited liability companies) in the UK
-self-employment
– savings (if they amount to more than £16,000)
– pension and benefits:

Some sources of income can be combined in order to obtain the necessary amount, in accordance with the financial requirements of the Home Office for a fiancé visa.

Knowledge of English (English Exam Test)
Applicants for Fiance visas must prove the ability to speak English at least A1 level.
In most cases, an applicant must pass an English language test and provide a certificate to prove his level. Those who studied in the UK at colleges or universities, can provide a diploma to prove a degree taught in English (a diploma must have a confirmation from UK NARIC).
The English test must be done through a registered provider – called a Secure English Language Testing (SELT) provider.

Tuberculosis test
Applicants from certain countries (see the link below) must provide a negative TB test result.
