A visa is a documents that gives you a right to cross the border of another country.

A visa to Russia is usually a paper sticker in the passport, so you need first to submit a package of documents the Visa Application Center in order to receive a visa.

To apply for any type of a Russian visa, you must have an invitation – a document confirming that you are invited to Russia by a tourist organization, a hotel, an individual or a company.

Tourist invitations can be issued by the accredited organizations registered in the Federal Register of Tourist Agencies of Rostourism.

Business invitations are issued by the inviting organizations that have this right from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A private invitation can be prepared by an individual you are planning to visit in Russia through the Gosuslugi portal.

The easiest and fastest visa type for you is a tourist visa.

According to the Federal Law No. 270-FZ of July 1, 2021, the following types of tourist visas are available:

  • Single entry for 30 or 90 days – allows you to make one visit during the validity period of the visa
  • Double entry for 30 or 90 days – allows you to make two visits during the validity period of the visa
  • Multiple entry for 6 months – allows you to make many visits, the total number of days spent on the territory of the Russian Federation should not exceed 90 days

No, in the UK, documents are submitted at the Visa Application Center (London, Manchester or Edinburgh). This is an organization that accepts documents and take fingerprints, and then transfers the documents to the Embassy, who will make a decision and put a visa into your passport.

At the moment, UK Visa Application Centers (London and Edinburgh, Manchester are temporarily closed) are operated by appointment.

The consular fee and the fee of the Visa Application Center may differ depending on number of entries and duration of a visa, as well as on the nationality of the applicant.

For example, a UK citizen applying for a Single Entry Tourist Visa must pay an additional £38.40 for a Standard Service and £45.60 for an Express.

The list of required documents depends on several factors.

As a minimum, all applicants must provide:

  • Original passport with two blank pages, valid for at least 6 months after the expiration date of the visa.
  • An invitation that is included in our service so that you do not have to worry about this document.
  • Application form filled on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website – this is also included in our service.
  • Photo 35 x 45 mm, colored, on a white background (the photo must be taken not earlier than 6 months before applying for a visa).

EU citizens living in the UK need to provide insurance that covers the entire validity period of the Russian visa, as well as a document confirming residence in the UK (BRP resident card, notarized Settled / Pre-settled status document).

E-Visas are not available for UK citizens, unfortunately.

EU citizens will be able to use this service after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, as this type of visa is temporarily not available due to various restrictions.

Yes, you can get married in Russia whileyou are there on a tourist visa.

However, please note that additional documents are needed for the marriage procedure and you must prepare them in advance before the trip.

The list of documents must be checked with the Registry Office you are planning to get married in, as the list may differ.

Minimum required documents for marriage in Russia:

  • Certificate of No Impediment + Notarized translation into Russian.
  • If you have been married before, then the Certificate making Decree Nisi Absolute or your previous spouse’s Death Certificate (if applicable) is required.
  • Your original passport and a tourist visa.

Documents and translations must be prepared before you enter Russia.

It is advisable to obtain a visa first, so that all translations will indicate your name and surname as on your visa.

If you need a visa to Russia for one year and you are not married to a citizen of the Russian Federation, you can apply for a multiple entry business visa valid for one year. With this visa, you can make multiple visits to Russia, the total number of days spent on the territory of the Russian Federation should not exceed 90 out of every 180 days.

Please note that UK citizens need to obtain an official FMS invitation to apply for this visa category.

Such an invitation is usually ready within the period from 14 to 21 working days. You can then submit your documents and biometrics at the Visa Application Centre.

EU citizens can apply for this visa type with the so-called TIN invitation. However, if you are applying for a multiple-entry business visa for the first time, then you also need to provide an official business invitation issued by the FMS.

Unfortunately, our company will not be able to help you with a business invitation.

If you obtain your own a business invitation, we will be happy to help you with your visa application.

Or you can separately apply for two multiple-entry tourist visas valid for 6 months each. In this case, we will help you with both the invitation and the application form.

On September 1, 2021, came into force the Clause 3 of Article 1 of Federal Law No. 270-FZ dated July 1, 2021 “On Amendments to the Federal Law “On the Procedure for Departure from the Russian Federation and Entry into the Russian Federation” and Article 5 of the Federal Law “On the Legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation”, which allows the possibility of issuing multiple entry private visas for close relatives of citizens of the Russian Federation, valid for up to 1 year with a permitted period of stay in the Russian Federation during the entire period of the visa validity, and without the need to provide invitations from FMS.

That means you can get a multiple-entry private visa valid for one year, with a possibility to stay in Russia for the entire duration of the visa.

Please note that the Consulate offers only one service to process this visa type – 12 working days, the Consulate and the Visa Application Center fees will be £226.40 in total for UK citizens.
